This entry-level position supports the Maintenance Department by assisting with basic maintenance tasks, facility upkeep, housekeeping, and grounds maintenance. The Maintenance Shop Helper role is designed as a developmental position for individuals seeking to build foundational skills in industrial maintenance and facility operations. This role supports a clean, safe, and functional working environment while learning core mechanical and maintenance practices.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist maintenance technicians with routine maintenance and repair tasks
2. Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, parts handling, and material staging
3. Support preventive maintenance tasks under supervision
4. Maintain shop organization and assist with infrastructure improvements
5. Daily housekeeping throughout the facility and maintenance areas
6. Support janitorial tasks such as trash removal, sweeping, wiping surfaces, and restroom/breakroom upkeep
7. Perform landscaping and groundskeeping tasks including mowing, weed-eating, pressure washing, and maintaining walkways
8. Assist with basic facility repairs including lighting, painting, plumbing support, and general upkeep
9. Operate basic equipment such as power tools, forklifts, pressure washers, and shop tools as trained
10. Complete basic work orders and documentation under supervision
11. Wear appropriate PPE and adhere strictly to safety policies
12. Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance with flexibility for overtime as needed
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
Forklift and overhead crane operation preferred
Ability to work independently and in team settings

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Zero to one (0–1) year of maintenance, facilities, or related experience preferred. On-the-job training provided.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
Training, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Training: Forklift, Crane Operation, Maintenance
Physical Demands
Regularly: Stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift up to 50 pounds
Occasionally: Work at heights up to 60 feet
Vision Requirements: Close, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
Shop environment and outdoors, occasionally exposed to varying weather conditions
